Planters Day Car Show Shines at Woodland

Photos and Story by Charles Stookey

Planters' Days is an event held in Woodland, Washington that lasts more than four days. The Rose City Classics Saturday Evening Cruise and Sunday Charity Car Show are just part of the events featured as part of Planters' Days. In addition, the car cruise and car show events include, but are not limited to, a parade, vendors area, carnival area, bed races and the royal court selling Planters' Days tickets for a Sunday drawing. Rose City Classics kicks off its participation Saturday morning with club cars leading the Planters' Days Parade. Later, club members gather at a local Mexican restaurant before heading out to set up the Saturday evening cruise through Woodland. This is free to anyone, but donations are accepted and go the club's charity of the year.

Sunday morning members get started early setting up the charity show. This includes setting up prize tables and the registration area. Club members then start out for entry area duties, directing cars to display areas and parking cars for display on downtown streets. This year's Sunday show had 311 paid participants and 17 club cars. This number came very close to filling available display sites.

Rose City Classics' 2018 charity was Community Home Health and Hospice. Thanks to everyone who attended our Saturday and Sunday events and made it possible to present our charity with a check for $19,200. We look forward to seeing you in 2019!
