Chelan Car Club's Event - It's a Blast!
By Patti Stein
The Chelan Car Club, though small, puts on a dynamite event. The September 8-9, 2017 weekend started off on a warm, Friday night at Leo Miller's Shop with a barbeque for the show participants. People gathered to show off their rides and share yummy food, music, a raffle and lots of stories. They also had a chance to view much of Leo's personal collection.
On Saturday, the cars started lining up early at Riverside Park where they parked on the grass under the trees, quite nice on a hot day. This year the show had approximately 103 entrants displaying their vehicles. The club provided live music, raffles, and, local vendors were there for interested shoppers. The car club sponsored a special showing of the classic film, American Graffiti at the local Ruby Theatre. There was also a "bridge" dance on the bridge over the river sponsored by the Historic Downtown Chelan Association. The bridge dance had live music, a beer garden and fun for all ages. It was a perfect way to end the weekend.
The proceeds from the show and other activities the club sponsors support the four scholarships the club awards each year. The students are from the local high schools in Chelan, Manson, Entiat, Brewster and Pateros. The scholarships are for graduating seniors who plan to pursue studies in the automotive field.
If you want a great time, see you in Chelan September 7-8 for this year's Lake Chelan Car Show at Riverwalk Park.
