Good Weather, Good Rods& Great Cause at Clarus

Good Weather, Good Rods and Great Cause at Clarus Optical. The 2017 version of the Clarus Optical Cruise for the Cure happened under clear skies and warm weather which, in turn brought out some excellent examples of South Sound street iron. Among the assortment were a couple of bracket cars, a customized sedan, several restored stockers and hot rods of various sorts, plus a seriously rodded '61 VW Type 1 and a daily driven '55 T-bird owned by the same guy for almost a half century.
For over a decade, Lacey's Clarus Optical has been holding their summer rod run with the objective of raising money for the Americaan Cancer Society and Seattle Children's Hospital as well as promoting blood donations with an on-site Blood Mobile. Raffles, a bake sale, an inflatable bounce slide, Lion Burgers (by the Lions Club, naturally), hot deals on sunglasses and autographs by Seahawk Legend Jordan Babineaux added to the festivities, with any and all proceeds going to the above named organizations. On a personal note, the goody bags contained, among other things, eyeglass cleaner which we are still using! Most of the attendees were, as noted, relatively local: Lacey, Olympia, Shelton, as an example, aside from Myron Krumm's gorgeous '55 Cameo from Conway, near Mount Vernon. There is plenty of room in the Clarus parking lot, however, so there's no reason why this very enjoyable event shouldn't attract participants from other areas of Western Washington. The Clarus Cruise for the Cure is scheduled for August 4th, 2018 and the contact info is shown below. Be nice to see you there.
