Record-breaking Numbers at Wheelin' Walla WallaPhotos by Jerry England. Article by Downtown Walla Walla Foundation Staff September 7 -8, 2018 saw downtown Walla Walla, Washington inundated with a dazzling array of 438 vehicles, the largest turnout ever. This was the 30th edition of Wheelin' and it was dedicated to the memory of Neal Larson, a long time car guy who had helped out with the car show for years. Neal was loved by everyone and is missed daily. The Downtown Walla Walla Foundation also initiated the Neal Larson Memorial Automotive Scholarship at our Walla Walla Community College with funds being raised with raffle drawings at the car show. Entries came from as far away as Canada and California in the form of the Can Am Curmudgeons. A great group with some beautiful cars. The Friday night cruise brought out 331 participants. (Note: a word to the wise, get your tickets to the catered dinner early, they will sell out.) Saturday featured non-stop activities with the car show being "streamed" live on BOB FM radio all day at the Show & Shine, and it all culminated with the awarding of more than 100 trophies, along with prizes for the Poker Walk and 50/50. The scheduled highlight for the 2019 edition of Wheelin' Walla Walla will be an appearance by Dennis Gage of the nationally televised My Classic Car TV show. That is going to be really cool! We are also bringing back the Saturday night street dance after the car show. You'll want to stick around for that. It's a weekend full of fun for all you gearheads. Hope to see you there!
